My Decade Obsession

I have a confession to make. Ever since I saw Anchor Man 2, I am obsessed with the 70’s.  I loved the costumes:

And the sets were so cool:

If you haven’t seen the movie, the picture of the interior of Ron’s lighthouse doesn’t make sense, but I scoured the interwebs for when Veronica swooped in and made the place right side up, but I could not find a one.  As it is, these pics are screen grabs from youtube.  If ANYONE can tell me where to find pics of this lighthouse set, please, please, please leave a comment.  That’s how much I loved the after pictures of the interior of that lighthouse.  For now it’s fun to play I Spy the awesome 70’s decor.  I spy two cool chairs in the background and one cool coffee table in the foreground.  I spy a cool light fixture and a cool bookcase.  And did you spy the awesome shape of that sofa??

So, I’ve gone way far afield with the Anchorman stuff when I all I really wanted to do was introduce my 70’s inspired art I made tonight.  My brother brought me a box of wood parquet tile from a job he was working on.  It’s really pretty stuff:

There’s some nice honey tones and some pretty grain in each tile.  I’ve had my eye on them for a while, but haven’t thought of a thing to do with them yet.  Tonight I remembered I had these cute little art cards from Ikea:

I thought they would look cute sort of framed on the wood tiles.  So, I grabbed my Elmers glue and slapped the cads on the tiles.  The only thought that was involved was deciding what portion of the wood I wanted to show.  This is what I ended up with:

I can’t decide if I should hang them like are above, or vertically:

What do you think?  Horizontal or vertical?

I’m really loving how these came out and I love the nod to the decade of my birth!
