Gift Guide: For the Crafter

ALERT!!!  This is your first warning.  At the time of the writing of this post we are 65 days out from Christmas.  Nothing is worse than last minute Christmas shopping.  No, wait, that’s an overstatement.  Obviously, there are lots of things worse than that, but why make your life more difficult during the most joyous time of year with the agony of fighting with mall traffic.  And maybe mall people.  Don’t do it to yourselves, guys.  Envision yourself on 12/23 with all of the lights in the house off except the tree, a wine glass in your hand and A Christmas Story on the television.  See the wrapped presents under the tree? That’s because you shopped ahead of time and now you’re actually in that alternate universe that only happens in Hallmark movies.  And I’m here to help.  I’m putting together gift guides just for you.  I’m starting with this Gift Guide:  For the Crafter.   ***This post contains affiliate links.  If you click one and make a purchase, I may receive a commission, at no additional cost to you. ***

Gift Guide for the Crafter

Gift #1 – Sharpies

Affiliate Ad - To the non-crafty, this might not be a big deal. But to the crafty, this Christmas morning! Or Birthday morning, or Hanukkah. Pick your holiday, your Crafter will love these! Sharpie® Color Burst Fine Point Permanent Markers

I can’t tell you how many times I have used Sharpies in my crafts.  My favorite is the Painted Tiles I did with Sharpies.  Any crafter worth her glue gun will squeal with delight at a big pack of Sharpies like these, I promise.  I know of an art teacher who is so in love with her Sharpies that she writes her initials in Sharpie on her Sharpies so that if one is “lost” it can be returned to her.  They are not terribly expensive and to the non-crafty that might seem a little lame, but you can’t go wrong with these.

Gift #2 – Yarn

Affiliate Ad - Good Yarn is a crafters friend. And yarn isn't just for knitters and crocheters! Think yarn covered wreath, yarn Christmas tree, yarn tassles, yarn pom pom balls. You had no idea, did you?? Caron® Cakes™ Yarn

Yarn is not just for knitting and crocheting, although if that’s what your crafter is in to, then it’s a no brainer…. Get him some yarn.  But yarn is a staple for anyone who likes to create.  Have you seen the millions of pom pom crafts out there?  Or, perhaps, my DIY Yarn Christmas Trees?  With a little imagination (and maybe a few Pinterest searches), the yarn possibilities are endless.  A few of these Caron Cakes in a stocking will really fill up like 2/3 of a stocking, so you’re technically saving money on junky stocking stuffers, too.  Do you see how this is a win for everyone involved??

Gift #3 – Gorgeous Fabric

Affiliate Ad - Every crafter wants gorgeous fabric! Fabric.com is my only source for buying fabric online.

Buying fabric on-line has never been easier.  Fabric.com gives you so many options for searching that it’s basically fool proof.  I’ve bought several fabrics from them and have never been disappointed.  If you know your crafter well enough, why not buy them a couple of yards of the perfect inspiration fabric?

Gift #4 – Martha Stewart Craft Paint

There is hardly a project I work on where I don’t end up adding a little bit (or a lot) of craft paint to it.  Martha Stewart makes my favorite and they are a staple for every craft drawer.  Or craft room.  Or in, my case, craft table/island/desk/entire house.  (I’m not the only one, I know that I’m not!).  My favorite ones are the metallics like this copper.  Just a little metallic goes a long way!

Gift #5 – Adult Coloring Books

Adult coloring books have been a thing for a while now and this one from Young House Love is the cream of the crop, in my opinion.  This is a great gift for anyone who is in to crafting or who likes to relax with a glass of one and some crayons.  Not a combination you see very often, but the adult coloring book has totally made it a thing.  And thank God for that.

Gift #5 – A Craft Desk

If you live with a crafter, you might be looking for a way to contain your crafter.  Not me, I can’t be contained.  I will craft wherever and whenever I choose.  But most people probably strive to try to keep the crafting madness in one place.  If I were so inclined, I would pick this desk to do it.  It has a marvelous assortment of drawers and compartments to store all of your goodies.

Gift #6 – A Blank Canvas (or 10)

Is there anything better than a blank canvas? I mean it has it’s own cliche attached to it, that’s how amazing a blank canvas is.  This set of different sizes is fantastic because you could basically create your own gallery wall with it.  And you don’t have to be a Rembrandt, either. There are lots of simple tutorials for abstract painting or you could cover the canvases in different fabrics, too!

Gift #7 – Sculpey Clay

Polyform Premo Clay Sampler Pack, Assorted Colors, 24-Pack

I’ve saved the best for last.  So if you made it this far, congratulations, you are going to be the gift giving hero when you buy Sculpey clay for your crafter.  I love working with this stuff so much.  There are a million different things you can do with it, but might I suggest these Marbled Clay Trinket Dishes?  They are so much fun to make.

Gift #8 – Felt

Felt is so much fun to work with.  I love anything colorful and felt is a cheap and easy way to accomplish color.  You can use felt to make wreathes, ornaments and lots of simple sewing projects.  It’s great for kids to work with, too!

Gift #9 – Wood Slices

If you’re not crafty, wood slices may seem a little bit odd to you.  But to the Crafter, they are a blank canvas just waiting to be made into something amazing.  These ones with the raw edge are so pretty.

Gift Number #10 – Washi Tape

Washie Tape is the Sharpie of tapes.  You can never have too much and you will want to hoard it.  Use them to decorate your bullet journal, tape up your free printables, or decorate a plain school book.  There are million and one things you can put washi tape on and your Crafter knows them all.

Gift #11 – Wood Burning Kit

If you’re going to buy those wood slices, you might want to think about getting this Wood Burning Kits.  One of my all time favorite crafts are these ornaments I made.  There is something super relaxing and satisfying about the smell of burning wood in your kitchen. And, in case this isn’t obvious, the wood burning kit is not really kid friendly, it gets very hot and you don’t want to accidentally leave it on.  Other than that, this is a must for the seasoned crafter!

There you have it!  Buy one, buy them all.  If you only buy one, make it the sculpey clay!

If you love this post you should pin it!
