15 Awesome Christmas Cookies to Make This Year

I feel like from Thanksgiving to New Year’s it’s basically a free for all when it comes to eating.  I scrap all the restrictions and the diet ideas and just go for broke.  My biggest weakness when it comes to food is cookies.  I’ll take a cookie over a cake or a candy bar or a steak any day.  Not that I have anything against any of those other foods, but cookies are #1 for me.  My husband has a theory that if you make your own homemade treats, it’s probably a little healthier (he’s wrong.  dead wrong), so in his honor, I have found 15 Awesome Christmas Cookies to Make This Year. ***This post contains affiliate links.  If you click one and make a purchase, I may receive a commission at no additional cost to you!***

15 Awesome Christmas Cookies to Make This Year White+Chocolate+Dipped+Ginger+Cookies

White Chocolate Dipped Ginger Cookies from Cooking Classy

These Ginger Cookies from Cooking Classy are beautiful.  They are so sophisticated, but at the same time, I don’t think they would be that difficult to replicate.  I love the idea of a Ginger cookie, too, because it isn’t overly sweet.  So, when you need a break from the super chocolate everything else, you can go for one of these.

When I make cookies, my absolute favorite cookie sheet is the one I got from Pampered Chef years and years ago.  It is not cheap, but you will never burn a cookie again.  I mean, within in reason. I will say my husband has actually burned cookies on it but that is because he doesn’t set a timer and only checks his cookies when there is a commercial or timeout break from whatever he is watching on tv.  You can’t really blame Pampered Chef for that, can you?

This recipe makes PERFECT sugar cookies! They're delicious both with and without icing, they keep their shape, have perfect edges every time and you don't need to chill the dough!

Perfect Sugar Cookies from One Little Project

Of course you have to make sugar cookies for Christmas.  These are so much fun to do with kids. You can use frosting and candy and get really creative with these.  The Sugar Cookie, however, can be difficult to get right, so I’d love to try this “perfect” version from One Little Project.

You know what is often overlooked when baking cookies?  The importance of using a cooling rack after you’ve baked.  I very often skip this step because I am lazy, but if you really want your cookies to keep a nice shape, you really should use a cooling rack to cool them.  If you go straight from the cookie sheet to a plate, they will get all wonky looking.

Some call them Peanut Butter Hershey Kissed Cookies but we call them Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies. Call them what you like, they are a perfect year round or Christmas cookie.

Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies from Cincy Shopper

Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies are a staple cookie.  I remember in my household growing up we were more of a straight up chocolate chip cookie family.  When I finally discovered the peanut butter blossom cookie, my eyes were opened to a whole new realm of cookie possibilities.

I’ve made Peanut Butter Blossoms a bunch of times and I especially love to make the peanut butter cookie with this gluten free recipe.  There are no crazy flours or sorghum to buy.  You can make them with ingredients you have in your kitchen.  Just three, ingredients, actually!

These little meringue trees are too cute.  If you’ve never made meringue cookies, you have to try them!  They are delicious and sweet, super easy to make and can be easily made gluten free (if you’re making these, just make sure your vanilla and food coloring and sprinkles are gluten free!).

To make those trees, you’re going to have to bite the bullet and get some tools for piping.  This is a bit of a splurge, though not an expensive one, but, I promise, once you get comfortable working with these, you’ll find reasons to use them all the time!

I have another cookie tool to share with you.  This is one of my favorites.  It’s a cookie scoop.  It works just like an ice cream scoop, except smaller.  All of your cookies come out the same size and it is so much easier than using spoons!
