Don’t be jealous, but I spent my Friday night organizing my kitchen drawers. That’s a lame attempt at humor. Organizing drawers is nothing to make light of. Especially when one of those drawers happens to be a secret drawer. Not laughing now, are you?
I don’t actually have many drawers in my kitchen and I chose not to organize all of them because two of them are filled with crafty stuff that I will tackle when I do the craft stuff later on in the 30 Days to an Organized Home Challenge. Others reasons I didn’t organize the rest of the drawers include:
- Exhausted
- Gracepoint on DVR
- Rest of the Kitchen already looks like a bomb went off
- Not in the mood
Here are the before and afters:
This is where I used to keep the silverware, in that silverware divider. I moved it out of there and into it’s proper drawer that is a few steps away from this spot. I moved the silverware for two reasons. One, there is a drawer in the kitchen that came with a nice built in silverware divider. Two, the new home of the silverware is in a lower traffic area of the kitchen so there will hopefully be less bumping around behind the kitchen island. Here’s a visual of the kitchen that should help:
The silverware used to be in a drawer in the island, directly across from the dishwasher. It is now in the drawer to the right of the stove. Here’s what the drawer to the left of the stove looked like before I switched it:
Basic junk drawer. With a crazy measuring tape that wants to jump out of the drawer, apparently.
And now, the afters:
Ahh, so much better, right? I know that in the grand scheme of life that these are small things, but honestly, if I can manage to keep these two drawers (and the rest of the organizing I have done in this challenge) looking like they do now, then I will have managed to eliminate one tiny piece of stress from my life. And who doesn’t need that?
And I don’t want to forget the foreshadowed secret drawer:
I don’t think you can tell from the pic, but this little secret compartment is tucked underneath where the silverware is. It’s a fun little free upgrade that came with the kitchen. Now i just have to fill it up, right?
