You don’t have to be “creative” to be a creator. You don’t need any special skills to be crafty. You just have to want to make things. And I know you want to make things.
I made every single thing that you see on this page. If I can make them, you can, too.
But why should you? Because we are made to make things. There is something essentially human about taking some materials and producing something with them. It’s in our souls, I believe.
I can promise you that everything on this page is simple (except the hand painted sharpie wind chimes, those were kind of a beast, but totally doable if you have some patience for fishing line and measuring), pretty and functional. Otherwise, I don’t make it. I don’t make trinkets or shelf warmers. If I make something, it has to serve a purpose.
Dollar Tree has awesome stuff for crafting. The tall glass candles are one of my favorites. I made custom photos with them before and this time I grabbed a few to try a mod podge craft. I made over the Dollar Tree Candle with some napkins I got from Ikea. So, you’re in for a …
My greatest fault is that I like to think about doing things. And plan to do things. But I’m not a great do-er of things. Or follow-er through on things. At least I didn’t used to be. But I’m turning over a new leaf and I’m going to do the things I say I’m going …
Mod Podge is kind of my arch nemesis of crafting. I haven’t really ever made anything with mod podge that worked out, except this post on how to remove mod podge which has been a hit for years. In that post I was removing the mod podge because I had messed up a project using, …
I had the clay out for the cute little light up Christmas trees I made this weekend, so I figured while I was at it, I should just keep creating. I’m so glad I did! I made these adorable little DIY Clay Christmas Ornaments for my tree and I love how they came out. They …
I saw the cutest little air dry clay Christmas Trees with little tiny star cut outs placed upon fake tealights so that the golden light shone though the wholes in the shape of starts. I immediately wanted to make them but the tutorial involved creating a pattern and I buying a teeny tiny start cut-er …
The holiday season is the busiest time of year for crafters. Probably because crafting is therapeutic and we all need all of the therapy we can get during the holidays. Kids have their own Christmas crafts, but adults get special and easy Christmas crafts, too. These are simple, but sophisticated. They are quick, but they …
You might not ever go to Yankee Candle again when you find out how easy it is to make your a homemade candle. Except, you will still go to Yankee Candle because everyone knows that Yankee Candles are the #1 Gift you give to any person that you don’t know well enough to know what …
I strongly believe that one of the biggest hurdles to being a creative person every day is that you don’t have the proper materials on hand and accessible. When you get the urge to make something you shouldn’t have to make a list of supplies, drive to the store, wander around the store, check out, …
I love a good resin project and I was so happy when my friend Sasha from Life’s Carousel offered up this amazing tutorial for Faux Granite Counters using resin as a guest post. If you’re looking for a way to spruce up some aging counters, this is for you! (This post contains affiliate links. If …
I have the bug for making easy crafts after doing some Pinterest deep dives last week like this one about nail polish crafts. Nail polish marbling is cheap and easy, even if it is a smidge messy. Marble the Whole Dollar Store with this Nail Polish Marbling Tutorial So I ran myself to the dollar …
I got back to making this week and it really made me so happy. I’ve been loving learning about watercolor painting and I’ve tried a bunch of different projects and including this simple watercolor painting tutorial. This week I went for something a little less abstract than what I’ve tried in the past and attempted …
I needed a new wreath because I have sort of a thing with wreaths. I make them fairly often and then I end breaking them. They fall off the door or sometimes I break them on purpose because I want to repurpose an element that I used on it. So, I can’t remember the fate …
Part of me loves outdoor Christmas decorations. Most of me does. Especially DIY Outdoor Christmas Decorations. But then there’s the part of me that hates the cold and that part of me does not like Outdoor Christmas Decorations. But you’re not here for my whiny pants complaining about the freezing cold Northeast late fall, are …
I love making things. If you’ve been around here before, you already know this. I am not, however, talented in any way when it comes to making things. So sad for me. I guess you could say my talent is not being afraid to try things. So I recently decided to try some easy watercolor …
I don’t know if I’ve gotten across to you completely that I’m terrible at crafts. I’m sure I haven’t, in fact, because that would be dumb. You come here to get a craft tutorial and then I say, here’s this one and, by the way, I’m actually terrible at this. I mean, I SELL an …
If you’ve hung around here long enough (thanks if you have!), then you know that Polymer clay is one of my favorite things to work with. I actually first discovered it when I was a Girl Scout troop leader and I took my girls to a local Craft Museum where they were taught to make …
I think at this point, I can’t even really say that we are having a crappy Spring so far here in New England. Because apparently Spring just is cold and rainy every year now. Then, it’s suddenly summer. To help brighten things up around here, I made a cheerful and unconventional Front Door Wreath with …
I declared this year the year of the Resin Craft. I kicked off the year by making resin necklaces. What I haven’t told you is that all of these small resin posts are leading up to one big one. You see, I have learned an important crafting lesson. Practice a little before you try the …
I promised you this would be the year of the Resin Craft. Unfortunately, I made that promise with absolutely no idea how to use resin. Except for the few tutorials I read. Ok, skimmed. So, I decided to do the smart thing and start off with a super simple Resin Craft Tutorial for a DIY …
I wrote about a bunch of winter crafts to make in this post about a Hygge Winter and I picked one to make this week! It’s frigidly cold here in the Northeast, so I thought it was a great time to try an Ice Sun Catcher. I had leftover, slightly mushy fruit and a few other …
I was in a making kind of mood today and I just so happened to have 20 clear plastic ornaments that I bought on sale at Michaels a few weeks ago. You won’t believe what I decided to do with them. I did my old faithful, sharpies and rubbing alcohol to transform them from blah …
I have a love hate relationship with our Elf on the Shelf. To be exact, I hate him and my kids love him. It’s been difficult to co-exist with him during the holiday season. I don’t know about you, but I find it particularly creepy to have an elf who is seemingly inanimate during the …
On occasion, when the stars align, I make a thing that I absolutely love. Today is one of those days, friends. I came across this tore flowers post for plaster dipped dollar store flowers while researching new projects and I just had to try these! I love how dainty and precious they are and while I …
So, I think I am officially off my crafting rocker. I’ve got three adorable Dollar Store Pumpkin Makeovers for you today and… I’ve named them. And made up personas for them. It’s not my fault, they are very cute pumpkins and they just sort of spoke to me. Have I lost my mind? I’ll let …
What can you make for less than $10, a coupon and an old shirt? You can make a lot of things, conceivably, however, I took my $10, coupon and old shirt and made a lovely Fall Wreath! In the end, the finished wreath that I have hanging on my door today took less than …
Last week I shared my painted rock obsession with you and this week, as promised, I’m back with my spin on DIY Paint Rocks. Guys, I have been painting rocks for days. I had so much fun with this. I started out trying to copy some of the inspiration rocks I found, but eventually, I found …
I often get inspiration for my DIY’s while on-line shopping. For this project, I was looking through Urban Outfitters home decor and I came across these cool jar candles with funky photographs and I said, “Eureka! I can make that!” They were super simple and so cheap to duplicate. You have to give these DIY …
A couple of years ago, I made a lemon sugar scrub that I really loved. It made my skin feel super smooth and luxurious and was great for a pre-shave exfoliation. The only problem with it was that it was basically more liquid than solid which got really, really messy in the shower. It …
UPDATE! A few years ago I made these adorable flip flops with my daughter’s Girl Scout Troop and I thought it would be a great time of year to repost this. These DIY Custom Flip Flops are so simple to make and you can make a pair to go with every summer outfit! ***This post …
We have two important summer holidays coming up that require a show of Patriotism. I made this Memorial Day – July 4th Paper Wreath out of pretty inexpensive items and I love that it will get to do double duty for Memorial Day and Independence Day in July. This is an easy wreath to make, …
So, I’ve made a commitment to redoing my fireplace with the German Shmear application. That’s the one you’ve seen on Fixer Upper where they shmear mortar over the brick so that it’s mostly white with some red peeking through. However, I have learned my lesson on jumping right in and not doing a little bit …

Ever volunteer for something and then realize, with terror, that you have no idea what exactly you are doing? Recently, an email came from my daughter’s school asking for a volunteer to coordinate the Class Auction project. “Calling all crafty parents!”, I believe is what it said. Impulsively, I said, YES! That’s me, all the way. …
Before you get too excited, I’m not talking about painting with wine, I’m talking about rubbing alcohol. Although, feel free to add the wine if you like. Just drink it, don’t paint with it. Or maybe wine is a fantastic additive for paint. What do I know? I’m just a humble crafter. The point is …
It’s not too late to think about making some Handmade Gifts! I made these DIY Neck Warmers in about an hour just this evening. We all have that one person in our life who is constantly chilly or achy and a Neck Warmer is the perfect gift for that person. There is nothing as soothing …
I’m into the whole handmade Christmas thing this year. I made these wood burned ornaments a couple of weeks ago and this week it is some super cool DIY Marbled Christmas ornaments for the tree. As you know, I have certain criteria for the crafts that I pick; they have to be useful as well as …
Many years ago, in middle school, I remember doing something in Art class with a wood burning tool. Now, the obvious question is, who puts a tool hot enough to burn wood in the hands of a twelve year old? Crazy, right? I also had wood shop and used all kinds of hand tools and …
You can make something beautiful. If you pick the right thing, you can totally make art that will be beautiful. I’m not an artist, everything I have ever made I learned from the internet. But, I do make some beautiful things sometimes. I’m not special (for real, totally ordinary), I just try and if it …

I couldn’t let Easter come and go without at least one Easter related craft. You all know my love for felted soap, and when you use multiple colors of wool when felting, you get sort of a pretty Easter egg effect. So, I present to you, Felted Soap Easter Eggs! Cute, right? I love making …

It’s been a while since I pulled out the old water colors, but I had the urge last night, so I thought I would try my hand at some of the pins I have pinned with DIY water color tutorials. It didn’t go well. And it did go well. Have a look. Here’s my first …
On occasion, the great crafting fairy bestows upon us a craft that is as close to perfect as possible. Today, friends, I have one of those for you. What I’m about to show you is the holy grail of crafts. It is beautiful AND useful. It is inexpensive and it uses limited resources. It is also …
When I go to our local Savers, there are always tons of cute little vessels and cups and trinket bowls that I’m enchanted by, but not sure what to do with. Until I came up with the idea of Homemade DIY Mini Candles. Ok, I might not have actually “come up with” the idea. I …
I have been wanting to make a book page wreath forever, but it never made it onto my to do list. This year after Halloween I needed to change up my door wreath, so I thought I would go for it. Spoiler Alert: What I made didn’t end up on the door, so I see …
I made something and it doesn’t look like I made it. That’s one way I know I’m happy with the outcome of the project I just completed. Is it me, or does that look expensive? Guess what? It wasn’t. I spent less than two dollars on it. I already had the wreath form …
I have been in a crafting funk lately. I’ve been wanting to try one of the marbling tutorials I’ve seen on Pinterest, but I was thinking I would need to buy stuff for it. Namely an object to marble. It seemed like all of the tutorials I saw were done on white objects, white cups, …
Have I said lately how much I love making stuff? I love taking a random pile of stuff and turning it into something that didn’t exist until I made it. Pretty cool. Today I made diy wind chimes out of tiny clay pots. And of course, they are my new favorite thing ever. Cute, …
We have a winner! Last week I announced a contest in this post called Choose My Next Craft Adventure. The votes are in and have been tabulated. (No hanging chads were identified. Google hanging chad for a recent American History lesson if you don’t what that means). And the winner is: That’s the inspiration photo …
Once upon a time, there was a crafter who was scrolling aimlessly through Pinterest. Just as this crafter was about to nod off into a deep sleep, something caught her eye. Felted soap. Now, she had heard of felted balls and felted animals, but what on earth could felted soap tutorial show her? These two …
There is a dilemma in my house. I need exfoliation. I bought one of those exfoliating brushes on the end of a long handle and my husband banned it from the house because every time he looked at it, it reminded him of the old lady in the shower in Caddy Shack. I also don’t …

My favorite costumes for Halloween are homemade, unique and free. My daughters costume for a Halloween party this past week ticked all three of those boxes. She was a Headless Hippie. I had seen a bunch of cute headless costumes on Pinterest and I thought they looked complicated, but, in fact, it was pretty …

Am I the only one that sees a DIY Sugar Scrub on Pinterest and simultaneously wants to eat it AND slather myself in it?
